Bertrand Cadart, an original cast member, is shown in the documentary as he makes his final trip from the Sunshine Coast to the "Wasteland," the desert setting of Mad Max 2 in Silverton, while battling stage IV leukemia. Beyond the Wasteland is an ode to life and the power of conviction to effect personal transformation.
